Biography <p>cartoonist, was on the staff of the <i>_Queenslander</i>_ from c.1897 until he migrated to the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:country-region w:st="on">USA</st1:country-region>, according to <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Moore</st1:City></st1:place> (<i>USA, according to Moore ( _Story of Australian Art</i>_ ii, 123). His cartoon <i>_Distributing the Commonwealth Bill</i>_ ('The people of <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:State w:st="on">Queensland</st1:State></st1:place>Queensland may expect to get Federation wrappers around their sausages for many months to come' – a comic butcher and fat housewife) appeared in the <i>_Queenslander</i>_ on 6 May 1899 (reproduced in <i>_Memoirs of the Queensland Museum_ </i>2/2 (31 May 2002), p.162). </p> <p>This is <i>not</i> <b>
