painter and decorator, worked in Heathcote, Victoria, from about the mid-1850s. The Heathcote Hotel, opened in June 1854, had the town’s only large hall – known variously as 'The Large Room’, 'The Heathcote Hotel Concert Hall’ and even 'The Theatre Royal’ since most public events were held in it. It was further enlarged by proprietor James Hay in about 1858 when Anderson, already established in the town, was engaged to decorate it. He also painted and decorated the interior of the Camp Hotel and undoubtedly did other local buildings, having a local reputation for this sort of work. 'Old Geordie’, as he was known (suggesting a Scottish origin), died at his cottage near the Ben Nevis Hotel in September 1882.
