Described as depicting 'two old men…playing cards’, the Sydney Morning Herald art critic (9 September 1897, p.5) stated it had merit, though the touch was 'inclined to hardness’. Forsyth was elected a member of the Council of the [Royal] Art Society of New South Wales in 1899, 1900, 1901 and 1902.
