Painter, was a student of Walter Jenner’s in Brisbane. He painted ' S.S. Templemore’ leaving for South Africa with the 5th contingent 1901, oil on canvas (private collection, illustrated in Cooke, p 30), which he exhibited that year with the Queensland Art Society (cat. 106). At this time Wishart was associated with Mathewson’s Photographic Studio and his ships were probably based on photographs. He did many paintings of marine subjects around Moreton Bay or on the Brisbane River with more generic titles such as A breezy day or A pleasant breeze . His A sunny corner of the Brisbane River 1897, oil on canvas, is in the Queensland Art Gallery.
