Gerald Lewers was a Sydney sculptor who studied at the Central School of Art in London then established a well-known house, studio and garden at Emu Plains, western Sydney. He and his abstract painter wife Margot Lewers frequently entertained Sydney's arts community at their property, which was left to the Penrith City Council on their deaths and is now the Penrith Regional Art Gallery and Lewers Bequest.

Gerald Lewers (1905-1962) was a sculptor participating in the modernist movement before the Second World War. In 1933, he married Margot Hinder, an abstract painter, and travelled to Europe, where they both studied at the Central School of Art in London.. They returned to Sydney in 1935 and in 1940 purchased a property at Emu Plains. Architect Sydney Ancher designed extensions to the original homestead, where the Lewers often entertained prominent members of Sydney’s artistic community for several decades. After their deaths, the house, garden and art collection (surveying Australian modernism 1930s-70s) were donated to the Penrith City Council, which manages it as the Penrith Regional Art Gallery and Lewers Bequest.
