comic book and commercial artist, lives at Wollstonecraft. He owned The Phantom Comic Zone in Chatswood, which stocks comics, trading cards, books, posters, toys and other memorabilia. He designs covers and artwork for Phantom comics in Australia (more popular here than in its USA base) as well as creating limited edition cards and T-shirts. For this he was nominated Favourite Australian Artist in the 1997 OZCON awards, part of Australia’s only comic book, trading card and entertainment media convention. Jim Shepherd of Mosman has also been nominated in the categories of Favourite Australian Character and Favourite Australian Title for publishing the Phantom. 'I was a commercial artist for 15 years and used to read The Phantom comics for a hobby’, Mr Ford said. The awards were announced on Sunday 2 March 1997 at Darling Point Convention Centre.
