Greg Daly (1954- ) was born in Melbourne, Victoria. He started studying pottery in high school and also worked part-time in a ceramics supply shop. In 1975-1976 he completed a Diploma of Art and a Fellowship Diploma at RMIT, then set up his Marra Pottery studio in North Mount Albert, Victoria. He was still based there in the 1981 potters’ directory, but by 1985 had moved to Richmond, Victoria, and by 1990 to Raintree Marra, Cowra, NSW, where he now lives and works. Since 1992 he has lectured part-time in the Ceramics Workshop, National Institute of the Arts, the Australian National University, Canberra. His work, which focuses on vessel forms decorated with rich glazes and/ or lustres, gold & silver leaf and enamels, is highly regarded by collectors both in Australia and overseas. Pieces are signed 'Daly’ and marked with an impressed 'GD’.
