AMINCO Australia was the first company to apply DNA of an Olympic athlete to authenticate the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games merchandise. AMINCO attained the official license to design the pins in 1996.

AMINCO worked with DNA Technologies to incorporate Olympic swimmer – Dawn Fraser’s hair into the back of the pin. The pins were launched by Dawn Fraser at David Jones on the 19 May 1997.

The Powerhouse Museum holds a collection of the souvenir pins.
