The Australian Ceramics Association was founded in 1956 under the name "Potters' Society of N.S.W". In June, 1967, the name was changed to the "Potters' Society of Australia" to reflect the increasingly national nature of its membership and activities. The name was changed again in February, 2006, to "The Australian Ceramics Association" to reflect more fully the scope of practice of its members.
