Gus Kelly of the Dunghutti language group of the mid north coast of New South Wales has been creating art since 1997 after graduating from art studies at Kempsey TAFE College. Kelly has been a finalist in the 2005 and 2007 Parliament of NSW Indigenous Art Prize and the 2004 Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award.

In 2003 Kelly won the Indigenous section of the Kempsey Art Prize.
