painter, exhibited with the NSW Society of Artists in 1909:
This year Mr. Griffiths is the man to break fresh ground, and he does so in his charming arrangement of Mosman Bay, entitled “Winter”. Mr. Griffiths possesses singleness of vision, and has a distinguished sense of color; and this picture, cast in a quiet key of blue and grey, is possibly the most original work shown this year. His other principal exhibit, “The Turquoise Necklace,” a full-length figure of a lady standing [ill. p.664], is a most successful color scheme of green greys, very quietly painted, and the pose unconscious. It is a restful and dignified work. Mr. Griffiths is a Whistlerian; and, as he possesses the true painter’s temperament, much will be expected of him in the future.
