Thought to be an amateur photographer in Victoria. He came to attention when his work was championed by the Portland Chronicle over that of John Richardson, the district's professional photographer. There is some suggestion the he is the H.H. Hannah who exhibited in Geelong in 1857.
thought to be an amateur photographer, was taking photographs in 1859 at Portland, Victoria, when his work was championed by the Portland Chronicle over that of John Richardson , the district’s professional photographer. Hannay never seems to have worked professionally and appears to be the same person as the 'H.H. Hannah’ catalogued as showing 'Photographs, by an Amateur’ at the 1857 Geelong Mechanics Institute Exhibition.
