Henry J. Billing was a professional photographer who worked in Sydney in the 1860s. He may have been the J. Billing who illuminated the upper storey of Melbourne's Post Office Dining Rooms to celebrate the marriage of the Prince of Wales in 1863.

painter and professional photographer, was working as the partner of Charles J. Morris in 1865-66 in a photography firm at 251 Pitt Street, Sydney. He had his own studio in 1867. He may be the 'J. Billing’ mentioned as having illuminated the upper storey of the Post Office Dining Rooms in Elizabeth Street, Melbourne, to celebrate the marriage of the Prince of Wales in 1863. His transparency showed the British coat of arms from which radiated four flags on which appeared 'Peace and Plenty’; underneath was the motto 'Long to Reign over Us’ and at the top was a small crown. 'The coloring being remarkably well put in, the effect was very striking’, reported the Age .
