Born at Yumurrpa ('where the yams grow’) in 1922, Henry Cooke lives at Lajamanu. His country is Yumurrpa and he can paint the Yarla (Wild Yam), Warna (another type of yam) and Marlu (Kangaroo) Dreamings. He began painting in 1986 in the Traditional Painting course.
