Hugo Stossel (1904 or 1905-19??) was born in Hungary, worked and travelled around Europe during the 1930s, arrived in Sydney in 1938 and began working for Cody & Willis. He was registered to practice as a NSW architect in 1947. Among the few buildings yet known by Stossel were the Eisner house, Warrawee (1947) and the St Ursula apartments, Onslow Avenue, Elizabeth Bay (1951). He was last registered in NSW in 1991, when he lived in Woollahra.
