German-born contemporary painter, now lives and works in Sydney, NSW. Johnstone has been exhibiting since 1980 and her work is held in a number of corporate and public collections including the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory in Darwin.
Born in Hamburg, Germany, Johnstone later settled in Australia. Between 1980 and 1982 she studied painting and printmaking certificates at East Sydney Tech. In 1983 Johnstone received her Post-Graduate Diploma of Professional Studies from the College of Fine Arts, University of New South Wales. Johnstone’s most recent solo exhibition was at Stella Downer Fine Art in 2006. She has had also solo exhibitions at Tim Olsen Gallery, Crawford Gallery, The Beatty Gallery, Mary Place Gallery and Blaxland Gallery. Johnstone’s work is represented in the collections of Artbank, the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, the University of West Australia, the Reserve Bank, Dresdner Bank, the Attorney Generals Department, IBM, Westpac as well as private collections in Australia and overseas.
