painter, had the same three oil paintings included in two 1869 Victorian art exhibitions, first at the Melbourne Public Library then at the Ballarat Mechanics Institute. The paintings, Pic-nic Point , A Cottage and Study of Gum Trees, Victoria , were exhibited by Dr John Blair, a noted Melbourne collector of local paintings.
