cartoonist (and possibly illustrator), contributed good cartoons to Sam Slick in Victoria (later Sam Slick at Vanity Fair ), a magazine that lasted six months to December 1879, e.g. (Newsboy calling out) ''Erald Er Penny. – Orrible Murder’ signed 'J.D.’, Sam Slick at Vanity Fair 23 October 1879, 12. His cartoons are signed 'Davis’ or 'JD’ and he probably did some of the anonymous others.
