cartoonist, signed Struck him Speechless ('Editor: “But there’s no joke to it!”/ Artist: “No – it’s just too funny for words!”’) showing the male editor of 'The Doodah Magazine’ inspecting a cartoon of two men by an unshaven, poverty-struck dope holding a portfolio and annotated 30/- . After the wording of the gag had been altered slightly, it was published in the Bulletin on 19 December 1928. The original (Px *D471, f 49) is in Mitchell Library along with eight other drawings by Jukes dated 1928-30 (nos 44-52). 'Jukes’ also signed “The Open Road”, Bulletin, 6 February 1929, p. 25.
