Jack lives in Cairns, Queensland. He works at Cell Art Space in Cairns and has been involved in Festival Cairns ’11 and the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair ’11 along with several freelance projects. His most notable project was The '2012’ Exhibition, funded by Youth Arts Queensland. The exhibition showcased many emerging artists alongside many established local artists.

As an artist he has participated in several group exhibitions, including 'Artists of The North’, in which his work was showcased alongside other members of the Cairns Art Society. He also is one of many Indigenous artists to have donated artworks to the bursary fund created in Thancoupie’s honour. This scholarship is in its first year of inception and will continue to be awarded to young and promising Indigenous & Torres Strait artists.

In 2011 Jans was awarded the Senator Jan McLucas Volunteer Recognition Award for his efforts and work with youth charities. He was also nominated in 2011 for the Visual Arts Medal for his efforts in strengthening the local Cairns arts & cultural scene.
