painter, printmaker, teacher and graphic designer, born Yorkshire, arrived in Australia in 1939. During WWII he served with the camouflage engineers. Representational painter, graphic designer (incl. chief designer of Commonwealth Office of Education in Sydney and Tasmanian Government Printer). Wrote and illustrated The Ships that Shaped Australia (Sydney: A & R, 1987).
