painter and printmaker, was mainly an oil and watercolour painter, although he had no formal art training. His woodcuts, done from the mid 1960s, were influenced in technique by Oliver Statler’s Modern Japanese Prints (1956), their subjects by New Guinea art. A major work Ceremonial (like a mat) employed 16 stages of printing – edition printed 1968 76.
