natural history artist and sketcher, drew the earliest known views of the Darwin (Palmerston) area in the Northern Territory as a lieutenant aboard the Beagle under Captain Wickham about 1840. His natural history drawings are in the South Australia Archives (State Library of South Australia, Rare Books Collection). Some of his pages of exquisite natural history watercolours of Depuch Island, Turtle Island and Barrow Island (1840) were in the Centenary of Federation exhibition Blighted Paradise curated by Lisa Loader (Rockhampton Art Gallery, 2001).
