Janet Ogston is a Wodi Wodi (Victoria) painter who was a finalist in the 2008 Victorian Indigenous Art Awards for her sythentic polymer paint on paper, _Be Hidden. _

In the exhibition’s accompanying catalogue Ogston explains the work by stating, “When I was a little girl my dad and aunt took us to La Perouse to visit our aunty. While we were there the government officers came. My aunt told us kids to go to the cellar under the house. We were very frightened as the cellar was so dark, we clung together and were told not to make a noise or cry because they would find us. Fifty three years later I still remember that terrifying day.”

Ogston lives in Morwell, Victoria.
