Illustrator and cartoonist, was born in St Arnaud, Victoria. She studied art at Swinburne Technical School and became a professional illustrator. She illustrated many children’s books, including The Adventures of Margery Pym by Rosalind Miller (London, Hutchinson, n.d. [probably 1940s]) and Whirlaway: a story of the ages written by HCF Morant (London: Hutchison, 1937: copy McLaren Collection, Baillieu Library).
Elder was the major cartoonist in Tall Stories: Being a selection of the stories submitted to 3DB by members of the Tall Story Club, printed and published by Edgar H. Baillie of Balaclava Road, Caulfield, for United Press “Herald” Buildings, Flinders Street, Melbourne, 6d.
