A convict, John Bolger's painting of Woolloomooloo is in the collection of the Mitchell Library, State Library of New South Wales. A pencil note attached to the back states that it was "kept as a curiosity".
watercolourist and ship’s carpenter, was a Sydney convict. He is said to have painted the watercolour Walloomoolloo [sic]. The Seat of Jno. Palmer Esqre. Port Jackson on 3 March 1803 (Mitchell Library). A pencil note on the back states: 'done by one of the prisoners and kept as a curiosity’.
