John Duncan Pierce

Pierce was a professional photographer who documented the mines at Broken Hill in 1893. After working in partnership with Cleary and Pearson, he took over the Shepparton business in 1896.

professional photographer, was documenting the mines at Broken Hill in 1893 (see Newton, Shades of Light , 76). In 1895 he was in partnership with John Esmond Pearson and Thomas Cleary . Pierce and Pearson – previously Cleary’s employees at Echuca – ran the branch office at Shepparton while Cleary was at Benalla. In early (or mid?) 1896 the partnership with Cleary was dissolved and Pierce took over the Shepparton business.
