painter(?), pastoralist and magistrate, a brother or son of Fanny Bussell (probably the former) settled in Western Australia with her family in 1830. Although the ink drawing J.G. Bussell’s Cottage at Port Augusta on the Blackwood Swan River (private collection) is signed 'J. Bussell Pinxt’ and 'F.L. Bussell fecit’, suggesting that Fanny drew it from a painting by John, this is evidently a joke about John being the house painter of the building drawn by Fanny. The Bussells lived in the cottage from May 1830 to December 1831.
