cartoonist(?), printmaker and illustrator, did strong German-style linocuts in the 1930s, eg. No Vacancies (ML F741 W), showing a man, wife and child surrounded by bills with the man reading a paper with this heading. In Saga: A Protest in Linocut by Worker Artists (Sydney: Workers Art Club, n.d. [c.1933-35]), the story of the struggle of the working class towards socialism (copy ML 741/ W-2/15), Harvey contributed image no.18, Fascism , a red and black ink linocut on white paper of a beastly Nazi and a Capitalist both saluting the Nazi flag (ill. Merewether p.51). He also did the less strong no.6, Police Attack (ill. p.52), Socialism v. Capitalism (ill. p.53) and no.12, The Daily Dope , showing a policeman, clergyman and capitalist with cigar holding up a giant newspaper obscuring factory with workers streaming in (ill. p.53). The last was used in the 1999 SLNSW b/w exhibition. The other 7 artists in Saga (ML F7741/W) were Frank Beck, Stan Clements, George Finey, Clive Guthrie (husband of Bessie Guthrie), Geoff Litchfield, McDonnell and Adrienne ('Kitty’) Parkes. It is thought that during this period in the 1930s Harvey also contributed illustrations and cartoons to the Australian Railway Union’s paper, Railroad , with George Finey .
