scene-painter, painted the scenery for South Australia’s first theatrical venue, ambitiously christened the Theatre Royal, which operated in a room above the Adelaide Tavern in May 1838. In March 1840 he replaced Edward Opie as scene-painter for Samson Cameron’s Adelaide company.
