John Olsen's exuberant paintings, which were first exhibited in the 1950s, are often celebrations of Sydney, Majorca, marine life, good food and sunshine. He developed his distinctive curvilinear style through an awareness of the poetry of Dylan Thomas and T.S. Elliot, and the painterly rigour of John Passmore.
