John South, a descendant of the Wailwan people of north west NSW, is a painter who has held a number of solo exhibitions since 1996. He was a finalist in the 2006 and 2007 Parliament of NSW Indigenous Art Prize.
John South, a descendant of the Wailwan people of north west NSW, has been exhibiting his work in solo exhibitions since 1996 at Penrith Regional Gallery & Lewers Bequest, Project Contemporary Art Space in Wollongong as well as at Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Cooperative. South was a finalist in the 2006 and 2007 Parliament of NSW Indigenous Art Prize alongside his mother, Jean South and sister, Barrina South .
