Joseph Drayton

Natural history painter and engraver whose sketches were in a number of natural history volumes, travelled to Sydney in 1839 under Charles Wilkes in the United States Exploring Expedition. While he was there, Drayton found and drew a large jelly-fish from Lake Illawarra which was (mistakenly) considered a new species at the time.
