Josiah Dewis was born in 1825. He was a weaver who arrived on the 'Mary Harrison' in 1862 as did David Bird another weaver.

Weaver who arrived on the Mary Harrison in 1862 as did David Bird another weaver. He employed a ticket of leave man in 1866. Dewis retired from the management of the Perth Invalid Depot in 1887.
