Kayelene Slater is a Kamilaroi/Gamilaroi artist who was born at the Caroona Mission in Quirindi, NSW. In 2001 Slater completed a Certificate IV in Aboriginal Arts and Cultural Practices at Western Sydney Tafe and has held a number of exhibitions of her paintings since then. In 2006 she participated in a printmaking workshop at the College of Fine Arts, Sydney. Her acrylic works are brightly coloured and decorative, depicting animals such as brolgas, dolphins and goannas, human figures, and iconographic forms.
