art student, was the eldest daughter of James Scott, senior colonial surgeon of Van Diemen’s Land between 1824 and 1835, and of Lucy Margaretta Davey, a daughter of a former lieutenant-governor. Mary Morton Allport gave her drawing lessons as a girl, mentioned in Allport’s diary entries for 15 November and 7 December 1852 at which time they were painting native flowers together. At Hobart Town in January 1854 Lachlina Scott married Arthur George Walker (1828-94), a pastoralist of Iveridge near Cressy. They had two children. She died on 31 July 1861 at Iveridge, aged thirty-seven.
