Lorraine Connelly-Northey b. 1962

Connelly Northey is a contemporary weaver who uses abandoned materials to create her artworks and explore post-colonial realities. She has been practicing since 1990, but has recently been exhibited throughout Australia and her works speak of a discourse between her Indigenous and Irish roots.

Description

This exhibition surveyed the work of over 30 artists and collectives who were engaged with pressing environmental issues and debates. The majority of artists in the exhibition were Australian; their work was contextualised and expanded through the inclusion of international participants whose works resonated strongly with local concerns.
