Lyn Thorpe is a Yorta Yorta and Wemba Wemba designer who designed and created the cloak that the “Jaara Baby” was wrapped in for burial upon its return to its traditional country of the Dja Dja Wurrung people of Victoria. This baby was found in 1904 wrapped in a cloak and with more than 100 gifts and then spent the next 100 years in a museum collection. In 2007 Thorpe’s work Emu Feathered Skirt was Highly Commended in the Deadly Art Award category of the Victorian Indigenous Art Awards.
