Painter, did four watercolours on two mounts, each signed 'M.C.’, that were bequeathed to the SLNSW by Mrs Donkin (ML ZSSVIB/COW/1-4). Her Views on Lake Cowal Station. J.B. Donkin’s property c.1870s-1930s were all painted from photographs: 1. Wagonette horses taken across Bland Creek in home-made punt; 2. Using water to put out grass fire; 3. Burning off lignum on the dry bed of Lake Cowal; 4. Bower birds’ playground in belantree grove.

Exhibited at the Sydney Woman’s Work Exhibition in 1892: Water Colours – no.67 Clarke, Miss M., Abbotsleigh – Hobart from Kangaroo Point (competitive and for sale); Oil Paintings – no.15 Clarke, Miss M., Abbotsleigh – Isles of the Dead (competitive and for sale).
