sketcher, was born in Adelaide, eldest of the ten children of William Nathaniel Crowder, a Scottish-born manufacturer of aerated waters, and his first wife Emily, née Hayward. She was awarded a prize for the second best 'water color painting, fruit or flowers, or both, original or copy’ at the twelfth annual exhibition of the South Australian Society of Arts in 1868.
