painter and art student, studied painting at the National Gallery of Victoria Schools in 1871-75 (pupil of E. von Guerard). Student at the National Gallery School of Design in 1875.
Exhibited in Victorian Exhibition 1872-73 preparatory to the London Exhibition of 1873 (Age, 6 November 1872). At the London Exhibition 1873: Copies of Paintings in NGV by students of National Gallery School – no.25 Ostend Pier, [after] E.C. Chambers – Miss Black (oil).
Exhibited Agricultural Society of NSW 1873: Victorian Section – no.60 Miss M.H. Black, Drummond-street, Carlton. Ostend Pier, Arab Maid giving drink, St Michael’s Mount, View on the Lodden.
