art teacher, opened a school for young ladies at Clifton House, New Norfolk, Van Diemen’s Land, in March 1831. She claimed in an advertisement in the Hobart Town Courier that she would 'undertake in three months to perfect any young lady in the Ispahan Formulas Painting, by means of the Gobelin Dyes of Paris, in Groups of Flowers, Fruits, Birds, etc., so as to surpass any other style at present known; with the great advantage that highly finished pieces may be executed in the best possible style, without the least knowledge of drawing, colouring or outlining a single leaf’. The school was still operating in 1832.
