scene-painter, was said to have been a scene-painter who 'had followed the profession for some years’ when he appeared at the Melbourne Police Office in April 1847 as a witness in support of an actor, William Henry Douglas, who was bringing an assault charge against one of the other members of the company, Richard Elrington. The artist may be John Norton .
