Mrs Green lived in South Australia and seemed to be active in her church's guild. She was a talented embroiderer whose known work is a religious depiction of St Francis.

The figure of St Francis was based on a painting by a Belgian artist and the tree was a copy of the naive tree in Giotto’s St Francis of Assisi fresco, while the birds at the saint’s feet are Australian. Mrs E. Barton was a member of the St Paul’s Guild, founded by Mrs Baker of Morialta in 1879 but afterwards run under the tutelage of Mrs Green , wife of Canon Green, rector of St Paul’s, Port Adelaide from 1881.
