Mrs Green lived in South Australia and seemed to be active in her church's guild. She was a talented embroiderer whose known work is a religious depiction of St Francis.
embroiderer, made the embroidered panel St Francis preaching to the Australian Birds illustrated in A Book of South Australia: Women in the First 100 Years. The figure of St Francis was based on a painting by a Belgian artist and the tree was a copy of the naive tree in Giotto’s St Francis of Assisi fresco, while the birds at the saint’s feet are Australian. Mrs E. Barton was a member of the St Paul’s Guild, founded by Mrs Baker of Morialta in 1879 but afterwards run under the tutelage of Mrs Green, wife of Canon Green, rector of St Paul’s, Port Adelaide from 1881.
