Nina Puruntatameri was taught to paint by her father, Romuald Puruntatameri and as a teenager, collaborated with him on the painting of spears. She has engaged in bark painting, screen printing, linen works, etchings and linocuts. She won the 1993 award for New Medium at the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards.
