Born in 1960, Oral Roberts has lived most of his life in Lismore. He is a Bundjalung artist from the Widjubal clan and now lives at Evans Head. In the mid 1980s, Oral and Gilbert Laurie set up an artists’ studio at The Chocolate Factory in Lismore where they worked and shared their knowledge for many years. Oral’s work was first exhibited at the Chocolate Factory in Lismore in the 1980s. Since then he has exhibited in Brisbane, Byron Bay, Grafton (Grafton Regional Gallery) and Lismore ('Aquarius 08’ exhibition at Lismore Regional Gallery). He has also been commissioned to do public artworks and murals across the region, including in public schools, at Southern Cross University and at the Aboriginal Medical Centre in Lismore.
