Warlpiri and Anmatyerre speaker who was was one the original collaborators on the Yuendumu school doors project in 1983 and one of the grand old painting men of Warlukurlangu Artists. His work featured in the landmark exhibition, "Dreamings", which toured the USA in 1988/89.
Born c.1940 and a Warlpiri/Anmatyerre speaker, Paddy lives at Yuendumu. His country is Mt Allan and Mt Denison area and his Dreamings are Kangaroo, Seed and Possum. He paints for Warlukurlangu Artists, with whom he has shown widely since the mid 1980s. His work was included in the Dreamings exhibition which toured the USA in 1988-1989. Paddy Stewart and Roy Japaljarri Curtis assisted the old men of the Yuendumu community in the painting of the school doors in 1983 which helped to spark off the development of a painting enterprise at the settlement. At the time, all the men involved in this project were members of the School Council and the Yuendumu Tribal Council. Remarkably, Paddy Stewart also helped paint the original Papunya school murals, assisting his countryman Billy Stockman Tjapaljarri .
