Born on Gordon Downs station c.1942, Palmer Gordon was a member of the Tjaru language group, and resided in Billiluna. His country lay near Lewis Creek and he often painted Muntun (Rainbow Snake) Dreaming stories. He began painting for Warlayirti Artists in 1987. While Balgo works are predominantly bold and stark, Palmer Gordon’s canvases exhibited a hazy, suggestive look that may require several viewings to be appreciated. His dotting is light and spare and the design is convoluted and complex. His works have an 'organic’ look that is probably an accurate reflection of the country they portray.
