Peter Rushforth's pots are characterised by a synthesis of both European and Japanese aesthetic influences. He came to an appreciation of the Japanese Mingei aesthetic in unusual circumstances when he was a prisoner of war in Singapore. Later he became one of the most influential teachers of ceramics.
